BIOGRAPHY:
Natalie L. AKA Goddess Talia (b.1995) is an interdisciplinary artist, Curator and Founder of Toula Gallery. Originally from Pittsburgh, Lambert received a BFA in Fine Arts from NYSSC at Alfred University in 2018. Natalie received an MFA in Fine Arts from The University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2023.
Natalie has been exhibited in several shows internationally, espace_furtur; Paris, France, Revisiting the Symbol; Memphis, Solo Exhibition; Marvelous Gallery Istanbul, Local Alumni Invitation, Cohen Gallery; New York, Rochester Erotic Festival; Rochester NY and, Group 3; Shrine Gallery, NY. Recently she has been featured in a number of interviews and included in a limited edition collectors artist book with Al-Tiba9 on the back cover and her interview on page 48.
Artist Statement:
Natalie's work focuses on what it means to be provocative. To engage in explicit erotic performances that entice the viewers. Natalie’s work deconstructs self-portraiture through video and neon installation while addressing the power dynamic between the viewer and the subject /object. The artist's persona of Goddess Talia utilizes Catholic iconography that has been saturated in kink-laden symbols to skew the boundaries between personal and professional spheres. Goddess Talia is on the screen; she is there as a Spector, a God, symbolizing control. Goddess Talia becomes a figure who is meant to be worshiped, to give your undying love and attention to her. She explores the power she has in the form of devotees. She has an online following that demystifies kink culture by presenting her work in a public art forum. Natalie’s work provokes thoughts of objectification from the audience. This challenges the viewer to think about what it means to be a sexual being. To explore the stereotypes that have been taught about the pleasure of oneself.
